This is the News page about MidwayRally Badminton Club and the Sport. This page was last updated on 04/09/08 . __________________________________________________________________ The new season 2008/9 will start on the 9th September. The first matches start early this year, so turn up and play for your place in a team.
The Club has had an average season, which has just ended. The Midway "A" team did not win enough matches to stay in the Premier Division but we were not bottom. The "B" & "C" teams will stay in Division 3. The Rally teams ended near the bottom of their respective Divisions but we will not know about possible relegation until the Manchester League AGM in September.
The AGM was held on the 8th May at the Houldsworth Golf Club in Reddish. The new Committee will meet early in September during the new season.

We shall be running the same teams as last year. Three teams in the Stockport League (Divisions 1, 3 & 3) and Two teams in the Manchester League (One in Division 1 and one in Division 2). A list of fixtures can be found on the Fixtures page. Membership fees will be increased from last year, as Court Fees have been increased by the School. Hence, they will be £90 for full fee paying members and from £45 for students. Match fees will be £3.00 for adults and £1.50 for juniors and students. Visitors fees will increase to £5.00.
As most clubs, we are experiencing a shortage of ladies in the club. All members are asked to encourage any friends who are interested in playing badminton to come along, to increase our membership.
Finally, will everybody give/send their contact details to Ruth Williams, (Sec) so that she can make sure they are up to date and are a complete record of all our members details? Please send your postal address, phone numbers and e-mail address. The details will be sent to all members to make sure everyone gets it, so apologies if you get it twice. If you notice that someone is missing from the e-mail list and you have their address, please forward it onto them.
Note: It has to be agreed by both Stockport and Manchester Leagues, that the scoring system for matches will remain the same as last season. Games will be to 15 points and you can only score, when your side serves.
